Blessing everyone,

I pray that you all are looking straight forward, not to the left or to the right. Tunnel vision for the Lord. Even when someone may have you rolling your eyes and sucking your teeth. there is no need to worry about what they knew better about, our main concern is that the father will handle that.

Okay let’s get into the word!

Matthew Chapter 27

Council of religious leaders condemn Jesus

Verse 1,2

The word says early in the morning they decided to put him to death.

Judas kills himself

Verse 3-10

The word says when Judas saw that Jesus was condemned, he was strucken with remorse and returned the silver coins. “I have sinned, I have betrayed innocent blood.” The religious leaders answered him saying “What is that to us, that’s your problem.”

The chief priest said to Judas “it’s against the law to put the coins in the treasury, it’s blood money.” So they used the money to buy the potters field as a burial place for foreigners. That’s why it’s called the field of blood. Then what was spoken by Jeremiah was fulfilled.

“They took the thirty silver coins, the price set on him by the people of Israel, and they used them to buy the potter’s field as the Lord commanded me.”

As I was reading this scripture I was reminded that we don’t need to worry about the people that betray us, as believers we have to stand firm knowing that the father will handle that, and it has already been worked out. The Lord had already spoken about how he was going to handle Judas before Jesus even came down.

Jesus stands trial before pilate

Verse 11-14

The word says Jesus stood before the governor. The governor asked Jesus “Are you the king of the jews?” Jesus answered,

Yes, it is as you say.

The scripture says when he was accused by the chief priest and the elders he gave no response. The governor asked Jesus why he didn’t defend himself against the testimonies against him. Jesus did not respond.

Being willing to know that there is not one reason to bother defending ourselves against people unwilling to listen. Some things call for us to be like Jesus and wait on God to speak our truth. Trying to prove our innocence to people who already fixed in their mind is and can be a waste of a blessed breath.

Pilate hands Jesus over to be crucified

Verse 15-25

The scripture says it was a custom to release a prisoner at the feast. A repeat criminal by the name of Barabbas was the option other than Jesus. When the crowd gathered pilate asked them which one they wanted him to release Barabbas or Jesus, the scripture says that pilate knew it was out of envy that the crowded called for Jesus.

The scripture goes on to sat that Pilate’s wife sent word to him in a message that said ” Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man. For I have suffered a great deal today in a dream, because of him.” But the chief priest and elders convinced the crowd to ask for barrabas and execute Jesus. when pilate asked why he should crucify Jesus the crowd just answered “Crucify him”

The word says pilate washed his hands and said

“I’m innocent of this man’s blood, it is your responsibility!” the crowd answered “let his blood be on us and our children!” The he released Barabbas to them, but had Jesus flogged and handed him over to be crucified.

Sometimes people will be filled with so much anger and hatred they aren’t concerned with right or wrong. In this case the prophecy had to be fulfilled, and all this had to happen. but I have to say How following someone can lead you down the wrong road. The crowd was following their religious leaders, but didn’t think about the word taught in the temples and spoken by the prophets. It’s like the picked what they wanted to know as many still do.

We look at bad situations and some would say what God does this? But people are on this Earth for a purpose and certain things must happen. Jesus was sent here just so that we can be in God’s grace again, he had to go through what most of us will so that we can overcome it. so that we can make our way to heaven.

Roman soldiers mock Jesus

Verse 27-31

The word says the governors and soldiers took Jesus to the praetorium and all the soldiers gathered around him, stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him and twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and Knelled in front of him and mocked him. After they mocked him they took off the robe placed his own clothes on him and led him away to be crucified.

He who knows better, will do better. In this circumstance, they lesson learned will be bigger than any of them would think.

Jesus led the away to be crucified

Verse 32-44

The scripture says that as they were going out there was a man named Simon from Cyrene that they forced to carry the cross for Jesus. They came to a place called Golgotha (The Place of Skull). When they got there they offered Jesus wine mixed with Gall.

Scripture says after Jesus tasted it, he refused to drink it. It goes on to say when they crufied him they divided his clothes by casting lots. Above his head read “This is Jesus, the king of the jews”.

The word says that two robbers were crucified with him, one on the left and one on the right. People passed by insulting him, and shaking their heads, saying; “Come down from the cross , if your the son of God!” “He saved others, but can’t save himself!” “He’s the king of Israel let him come down from the cross, and we will believe in him. Since he says ‘I’m the son of God.'” The scripture says even the robbers were insulting him.

And he was dying for those very same people. To allow our love for God to over power how we may feel about another person. That’s the only way you can show love to a person who may have wronged you. You have to dig deep and see pass the outer layer.

Jesus had to be in prayer on that cross he had to have mentally took his mind in to a prayer room and removed his spirit from all that hate. Thank you Lord!

Jesus Dies on the cross

Verse 45-56

The scripture says from the sixth hour to the ninth hour darkness came over the land. About the ninth hour Jesus cried out.

Eloi,Eloi. lama Sabachthani

which means “my God, my God why have you forsaken me?”

The scripture says when some of those standing there heard this they said ” He’s calling Elijah” Immediately one of them ran and got the sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar and put it on a stick, he offered it to Jesus to drink. The others said to leave him alone and see if Elijah comes to save him. The scripture says when Jesus cried out again in a loud voice he gave up his spirit.

The curtains in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The Earth shock and rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of the holy people were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus’ resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many People.

The scripture says  when the Centurion and those guarding him saw the earthquake and all that had happen they were terrified. They said “Surely he was the son of God”

The scripture says that there was a lot of women who were there watching from a distance, these were the women that followed Jesus and cared for his needs.

To be the women that cared for Jesus’ needs watching him die because, innocent blood shed. I asked this question Would you believe someone if they said they Were Jesus coming back for his church?

Jesus is laid in the tomb

Verse 57-61

The scripture starts by telling us that as evening was coming, a rich man by the name of Joseph from a town called Arimathea. Who also happen to be a disciple of Jesus, went to pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission to take the body of Jesus. Joseph took Jesus’ body, wrapped it in clean linen and put him in his own new tomb, that he had cut out of rock. He rolled a big stone in front and went away. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting opposite the tomb.

And now there was a shift, Everyone stand in their position. From Joseph having a tomb ready if we go back to him sending a message to the man Simon with the skin disease that he will have passover at his house. To the Mary’s being across from the tomb.

Guards are posted at the tomb

Verse 62- 66

Scripture says the next day was the day after preparation day. The chief priest and the pharisees went to pilate. “Sir, we remember something that liar said while he was alive. He claimed  ‘After three days , I will rise again’ so give the order to make the tomb secure until the third day. If you don’t his disciples might come and steal the body. Then they will tell the people that Jesus has been raised from the dead. This last lie will be worst than the first.”

Pilate told them to take some guards with them and secure the tomb so they went and made the tomb secure, they sealed the tomb and placed some guards of duty.

This chapter is always hard to read and even though as a believer we know that these things must happen in order for us to be able to get to the glory of the Father.

Crazy part is that even in death they were worried about what Jesus had said. They were scared at the tearing of the temple curtains or maybe even the earthquake. This shows us that the enemy will still try to make you look like a liar even when you know the truth.

It falls in line with believing that you can not identify the voice of God. It’s the same voice that when you listen to it you end up in the right spot at the right time. In some way the enemy has found a way to make you believe that your wrong. So he sealed up the tomb where Jesus is and told you it was just you, but remember that Death couldn’t hold him down so it has to be the Lord speaking to you.

Be Blessed

  1. Beyond the fact that it was God’s will for Jesus to die, they killed him because they were afraid there was a measure of truth to what He was saying. It put their own belief system in jeopardy. They would no longer be able to control the people with their religious and political agendas.
Same scenario with satan raising his head up in the garden… from day one he had been trying to distort the real truth.
It’s a shame Jesus’ accusers had to find out the hardway that their fate was inevitable.
What’s so horrible about this read is that when the crowd chose to crucify Jesus, they were so arrogant to say, “Let His blood be on our heads and those of our descendants. They cursed their lineage. My God, innocence caught up in the scheme of things before they were even born.

    • Amen, the very reason he had to die. because of him their descendants overcome their words. Look at Jesus! that admitting their wrongs he believing that he is God, lands them in his glory. makes you wonder how many of them cried to him after it was over, or lived in the lie?
