Matthew Chapter 9

Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man

Verse 1 – 8

The word says that Jesus went into his own tow, and there the men brought a man to him paralyzed. Jesus saw their faith, and told the man that his sins were forgiven the word says Take heart

The teachers of the law saw this and said to themselves “this man is blaspheming.” Because Jesus knows their thoughts, he asked them why they thought so evil. He asked them if it was easier your sins are forgiven, than get up and walk? Jesus says this so we would know that the son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins.

Jesus tells the paralyzed man to get up and take his mat and go home. The word says the man got up and went home. The people praised God, who had given men this authority.

In this teaching Jesus shows us that we have the power to command, we have the authority to forgive sin. We walk around with lack of self-worth with so much power inside of us. The paralyzed man is us stuck in our circumstances we can’t seem to me because we don’t think we have the power to move out of it.

God has given us authority on this earth, to go forward and prosper, but he has also given us the gift of free will, to walk or sit. The question is what are you going to do with your power?

Verse 9 – 13

Jesus Eats with Sinners at Matthews House

The word says when Jesus left from the paralyzed man he saw a man name Matthew who was sitting in the tax collector’s booth. Jesus told the man to follow him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

As Jesus was having dinner at Matthews house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples.

The word says when the Pharisees seen this they asked his disciples, why Jesus was eating with the tax collectors and the sinners?

It’s not the healthy that need a doctor, but the sick.

But go learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.

For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.

This word blew my mind, let’s talk about the real. Yes, we seek fellowship and to be around like-minded individuals. Let me say this on this blog first, I am not here for the righteous but for the sinner. This scripture made me realize why the Lord named the blog from sinner to saint, it’s here for the those that are looking for God, to help those that know him but have not yet established a relationship, and for those that just want to be filled by him.

Praise God for placing us here to help each other. We cannot deny the sinner we are not better than them, we are to have mercy. I Jesus came and walked the way we should be walking then we were meant to not expect sacrifice, but desire mercy, may God have mercy on them and me.

Verse 14 – 17

Religious Leaders Ask Jesus about Fasting

The word says that John’s disciples asked Jesus why he and the Pharisees fast but Jesus and his disciples doesn’t? Jesus answered by saying how can the guest of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them; then they will fast.

Jesus says no one will sew an unshrunk patch on old clothes because the patch will pull away from the garment making the tear worse. Nor will you pour new wine in old wineskins, if they do the skins will burst, the wine will run out and the wineskin will be ruined, so they pour new wine in a new wineskin and both are preserved.

This word is real Jesus was there to do a new thing. When he speaks about the patch he is talking about the old religious ways. If he did what they did it would be worst. Jesus and his disciples were spending as much time together teaching and learning with the many that followed. They would not mourn, there would be a time for them to fast.

When we fast, we are releasing the old a purge we are coming from the fast new, changed. When doing a new thing you can’t mix it with the old, when expecting a new blessing God isn’t going to pour it out on your old ways.

Verse 18 – 26

Jesus Heals a Bleeding Woman and Restores a Girl to Life

The word when Jesus was talking about fasting a ruler knelt before him and told him that his daughter had died, he told Jesus to come put his hand on her and she will live. (command)  Jesus got up and went with him.

The word says just then a woman who had been suffering with bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, she said to herself “ If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”

Jesus turned and saw her and told her to “take heart your faith has healed you” and the woman was healed from that moment.

The word goes on to tell us when Jesus entered the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd, he told them to go away. Jesus told them that the girl was not dead, but asleep. But they laughed at him. After the crowd was gone Jesus went to the girl touched her hand and she got up. The news spreads through the region.

The king with authority new that Jesus would bring his daughter back, the woman with blood knew that all she needed was to touch him. But Jesus said take heart, relax your worry. Your faith has healed you.

Our authority is in our faith, to know that God is real and will bring us from whatever we are coming from, going through, and moving toward. Are you walking in the power of your authority? Are you moving by faith? Are you ready to take heart?

Verse 27- 34

Jesus Heals the Blind and Mute

The word says Jesus went on from there, and two blind men followed him calling out have mercy son of David! When Jesus went indoors the blind men came to him and Jesus asked them Did they believe that he is able to do what they ask of him? they replied yes, Lord.

Jesus touched their eyes and said

According to your faith, it will be done to you?

And their sight was restored, Jesus warned them sternly make sure no one knows about this. But they went out and spread the news to the region.

The word says while the men were going out a man who was demon possessed and could not talk was brought to Jesus. When the demon was driven out the man was able to speak. The crowd was amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.” The word says but the Pharisees said “It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons.

Our faith is the key, we serve a God of impossible so wouldn’t what he does be never before seen. My favorite saying is, if you want to see God go and do the impossible, that will be a faith walk, a walk on water. When folks don’t understand what God is doing they will typically say it is the devil it’s demonic. Remember they are not supposed to understand what God is doing through you so don’t expect them to.

Verse 35 – 38

Jesus Urges the Disciples to pray for workers

The verse starts by telling us that Jesus went through all the villages and towns techin in the synagogues, preaching the word of God and healing sickness and discomfort. When he saw the people he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Jesus said to his disciples the harvest is plenty but the workers are few. Jesus tells his disciples to ask the Lord for a harvest so we can send out workers into his harvest field.

This scripture is very important. One day the Lord showed me that we are the Trees of knowledge and we are Eden. When we are growing in the Lord being nurtured in to goodness, we have bountiful harvests. Everything that comes from us is good. Jesus had compassion for the people because they didn’t know how beautiful they could be. We don’t know how beautiful we can be. When we lack faith in God we are walking around worried about so many unimportant things. Sometimes it can be a problem only God can solve, those are the times to just wait in his presence.

Are you ready to be a worker are you ready to plant a seed for the harvest? Did you know that that can just be praying that someone gets to walk the path of righteousness? However God moves you are you ready to walk in faith, are you ready to be that tree of Knowledge that God tells you, you are? Here is your free will, you know of what is good and you know of what is evil, now you decide. Amen

Now for the most Important part, if you are looking to build your foundation in faith, you can Google, download a free bible app, or turn your bible to Romans chapter 10:9 and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved.
