Matthew Chapter 7
Jesus Teaches about Criticizing others
Verse 1- 6
Jesus teaches us, do not judge or we will be judged with the same measure of judgement that you used to judge. The Lord says we can’t look at the little things about others and criticize them and we have bigger things blocking our vision.
The Lord shows us that we can’t judge walking around crittizeing others when we are showing someone that something is not right, we should be standing in position as a helper not as a demolition. It is important that we are uplifting each other toward God.
Verse 7 -12
Jesus Teaches about Asking, Seeking, knocking
Jesus tells us ask and it will be given to us, seek and we will find, knock and the door will be open to you. Everyone who does these things shall receive.
Jesus askes who is Gods son and ask for bread and get stone. Our ask for a fish and be given a snake? Jesus tells us that the Father in heaven gives good gifts to those who ask him. The Lord says in everything so unto others what you would have them do to you. This is said by the Law and the Prophets.
It’s important to our spirit that we do right by the people that come into our lives. We should allow ourselves to not walk around wishing misery on each other. We should be able to see that we all are trying to move forward in life. We all are out for the greater good even though the good to many are different it’s important to know that we all desire it which means that there is no need to want someone else to fail or need.
If we can help in our time, finances if God has already sent you an overflow be ready to spread that over flow so that others may be able to have a little in their cup. Remember a cup that overflows end up wasting what if you don’t pour it into another glass.
Verse 13 &14
Jesus Teaches about the Way to Heaven
Jesus teaches us that if we want to head into destruction we would go the road that has many people and large options but if we want to get in to heaven there’s only one way and few take that road.
The walk as a believer is a walk of discipline and relationship. It takes lots of patience to stand and walk righteously a relationship with God puts us in a place that we are seeking him and when we stand in that place challenges will come and test your faith to allow you to build another level of faith in God. Many will try to fit through that gate but it takes humbleness to be able to fit and continue walking. Knowing God provides all and we when we are tempted still keep moving in what God has instructed. The word says
“don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
When we are weak in faith as soon as a stress factor comes with tomorrows worry we seem to try to fall off the narrow road and try to find our own path.
Jesus Teaches about Fruit in People’s Lives
Jesus warns us to watch out for false prophets, they come like wolves in sheep clothing. Pay attention to their fruit. Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit.
Especially in this day you can scroll Facebook and find many people with the title Prophet before their names. Take the time to sit and speak with God before you run and do what they are telling you that “God said” look around them and see what God is moving in their life. Remember everything that comes from God is good.
Jesus Teaches about Those Who Build Houses on Rock and Sand.
Jesus says you can cry out Lord, Lord and still not get into heaven. Only those who do the will of the Father in heaven will get there.
“They may say didn’t I prophesy in your name and drive out demons and perform miracles in your name. and I will say to them get away from me you evil doers.”
Jesus tells us that if we listen to his words and put them in practice it is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The storm came and the house did not move. But the ones who hears the words and doesn’t put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The storm can and the house fell with a great crash.
The word says when Jesus was done teaching the crowd was amazed because he spoke with authority and not a teacher.
We must remember to apply the word of God to our lives this is important. We stand on the word of God that is solid ground if you don’t apply a practice of faith and righteous living you cannot think that you will stand strong in the tough times.
You cannot turn your back on God when the sun is up and then when the rain starts to get heavy you scream Lord, Lord. We cannot be hypocrites; our walk should place us in the position to want the Heavenly Father to have a smile on his face because he knows that we are strong in faith because we practice I every day. He has been training us for a time like this. What are you going to do in the storm be the light on the night stand or be the light under the night stand.
Now for the most Important part, if you are looking to build your foundation in faith, you can Google, download a free bible app, or turn your bible to Romans chapter 10:9 and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. Begin to build your foundation of faith with bible study, fellowship, worship and prayer.
