1Samuel Chapter 1

1-samuel-1024x576

verse 1 -7

In these verses we learn that there was a man by the name of Elknanah who had two wives. The womens name were Peninnah and Hannah. Peninnah had children but Hannah did not. during a certain time of the year Elknannah would pack up his family and leave this was his time to go pray, worship and sacrifice to the Lord. When Elknnanah would sacrifice he woul give a portion of the meat to Peninnah and her children. But the verses say that because he loved her and she couldn’t bare children he would give Hannah double portion. Peninnah would poke at Hannah because she couldn’t have children and make Hannah cry and feel depressed.

As I was reading this chapter, I thought about how Gods people would take a certain time of day or season to go up and pray, praise and Worship. this is a tridition that we seem  to have stopped. Yes I am reading from the old testiment, but what I am starting to realize, is that we have removed God out of our tradition. Yes some of us are going to church every Sunday, some of us will wake up every morning and pray, but will we sacrifice time, to go to him shut everything down, get our household together, and worship.

That’s what Elknannah did, Now when he sacrificed he gave Hannah double, and I am sure this put Peninnah in her feelings wondering what made hannah so special? she didn’t have no babies. I’m pretty sure that this action caused the spirit of Jealousy to rear his head during a time of worship. That spirit coming in and taking over Peninnah, she begin to attack the one thing that she knew that would hurt Hannah, The fact that she couldn’t have children.

verse 8-20

Elkanah asked Hannah why was she crying? Why won’t she eat? Why she was depressed? he felt she should feel he meant more then then even having ten son? One day when they had finished eating in Shiloh, hannah stood up to leave and she began praying, she was praying in her heart but her mouth was moving. Eli a priest thought for sure that she was drunk and said to her. ” How long will keep getting drunk?” Hannah goes on to tell him that she wasn’t drunk but praying to God, she begged not to think that she was a wilcked woman.  Eli told her to go and peace and may Gao grant her what she was asking for. Her answer to him was may his servant find favor in his eyes. Hannah went home and ate feeling light and no longer depressed. In sometime her husband laid with her and she had a son and named him Samuel, she said it was because she asked the Lord for him.

Reading these verses we are reminded that God knows our heart. Even when we send our pitition spiritually he hears. Have you stood and agreed with someone elses prayer, prayed that God hears and answers them, at the time that maybe just what is needed. In that moment Hannah had given the problem to God she no longer was depressed or struggling with her emotions but ready to eat and enjoy her life. In some time she ended up getting pregnant and naming the baby Samuel.

verse 21 – 28

Here we learn about Hannah dedicating her son to God. Instead of going with Elkanah and Perninnah to worship and sacrifice she waited to wean her some from breast feeding and take him. After Samuel was weaned from his mothers breast she took him up to Shiloh with a young bull, flour , and wine. When they had scarificed the bull she took Samuel to Eli and told him that she prayed for the child and the Lord  granted her the child so now she is giving him back to the Lord.and he worshiped there.

These verses reminds us that whatever God grants us in prayer we must be ready, to give it back. He grants you a house, you say to those who crosses the threshold this is the Lords house. Financies we sow and tithe, business we give God the Glory and sow and tithe, Marriage we put God in the middle praying and worshiping with our partner. lets take a lesson from the book of 1Samuel and remember to stand agree with someone in prayer and dedicated your blessing back to God.

Now for the Important part if you are looking for Salvation if you will like to start a new and be in the presence of God turn your bible, google, or download the free bible app and turn to Romans 10:9 Confess with your mouth that Jesus christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. start a prayer life and get in to the word and allow the Lord to turn it around for you.
