1 Samuel chapter 16

Samuel anoints David

verse 1 – 7

The Lord asked Samuel how long he will mourn for Saul, since he was rejected as king of Israel. The Lord tells Samuel to get himself together, fill his horn with oil and be on his way to Jesse of Bethlehem where the Lord had chosen one of Jesse’s sons to be king.

Samuel said to the Lord. How can I do the Saul will find out and kill me. The Lord tells Samuel to take a heifer with him and say he is going to sacrifice, the  Lord tells Samuel to invite Jesse and his son’s to the sacrifice and the Lord will show him what to do. The Lord tells Samuel that he was to anoint the one the Lord has indicated.

Samuel did as the Lord told him. When Samuel arrived in town the elders greeted him with worry they asked him if he came in peace. Samuel told the people that he had come to sacrifice, he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.

When they arrived Samuel saw Eliab and Samuel thought that the anointed was already there as surely as Eliab was standing. but the Lord told Samuel not to look at his appearance or his height for the He ( the Lord) had rejected Eliab.

In this scripture the Lord says to Samuel how long are you going to mourn Saul. Sometimes when we are working on something and putting our everything into it and it fails we can go into depression not want to do anything else. But the Lord says how long are you going to mourn it. It’s time to get up and do a new thing. was Saul Samuel’s  purpose? no his purpose was to find a king for the people so now he has to fill his horn with oil and get up and find a king.

The same thing applies to us we may be working on something birthing a new thing in our purpose and then it doesn’t work out the way you want it to. The Lord is saying don’t just sit there and soak about what didn’t work, get up and start the next thing until your purpose is fulfilled.

Really quick, I want to touch on Eliab. Samuel saw Eliab and said “the anointed is right there”. I’m sure his mind said the Lord doesn’t need me. The Lord says to him don’t look at his appearance or his height for I have rejected him. We are reminded that we can not look at someones outer appearance or the stories that we heard about them to compare to ourselves we have to go in following instruction and focused on the instruction. looking at someone else will just distract you from what you are suppose to be doing. There is no need to judge on appearance and word we do not know their heart or their walk with God.

verse 8 – 13

Jesse brought seven sons before Samuel, and none of them were the one that the Lord had chosen. Samuel asked Jesse if he had another son and Jesse told him about the youngest that was tending to the sheep. Samuel told him to go get the son they would not sit down until he came. When Jesse’s youngest son walked in the Lord said to Samuel “Rise and anoint him; he is the one” Samuel took the oil from the horn and anointed him in the presence of his brothers and from that day on the spirit of the Lord came upon David. the word says that Samuel then went to Ramah.

Glory to God let me just say this When in a relationship with God it’s important to move when He says. in order for us to be able to move in what the Lord says we need to ask the Lord to purge us of all things that is not of him. Gory God. Had Samuel not been in a relationship with God he would have anointed the wrong brother. when we don’t follow his instruction we end up in the wrong position.

David in Saul’s Service

The spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul and he was tormented with an evil spirit the word says this came from the Lord. Saul’s attendants suggested that he find someone who can play the Harp for him when the Evil spirit comes upon him and this would make him feel better.

Saul sent his attendants to find someone. One of the servants stated that the son of Jesse plays the Harp and then he begins breaking down David’s attributes. The word say that Saul then sent a messenger to Jesse’s house saying “Send me your son David” Jesse loaded a donkey and gifts and sent David on his way.

When Saul saw David he liked him, he made David his armor-bearer and sent Message to Jesse. asking him to allow David to stay, he was pleased with him. The word says that whenever a spirit from God came upon Saul David would play the Harp, Saul would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.

Glory be to God as I was reading this scripture I had to say “Look at God”. We know that Samuel did not want to run in to Saul. we know that when God’s spirit left from Saul it left a spirit Devastation, depression, Hate, Mourn they all laid on Saul he went from nothing to king but what pained him was he didn’t follow God’s instruction and he knew he was rejected as king.

The Lord anointing David before he went in to Saul’s house was a blessing. The power of God was with him. His instructions was to be in positions and follow instructions. To stand in his purpose. (Which we know is to take over as king, for God is not a man that he should lie.)

As we walk through this day let’s remember that on a foundation of faith you stand firm, no matter what you have to go through to get there ( Samuel hands were probably sore, he was tired, he missed his sheep, and arguing with his brothers.) When God is with us, and we stay obedient, we stand in Power. Yeah it’s hard at times, you may even fail as Saul did. But it’s your choice to get up and move on as God told Samuel or be stuck with a spirit that reminds you of your failures. To be soothed by the anointing of the person that will take your place. To love him because he did the one thing that put your mind at ease. Stuck in a spirit is conviction of all your shoulda, coulda, woulda’s Remember to follow instructions God told Samuel “How long are you going to mourn Saul? fill your horn with oil and lets go to the next one”

Now for the important part, If you are looking for Salvation and you want to begin building you foundation on faith Download the free bible app, google , or turn your bibles to Roman 10:9 and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. 1 Samuel chapter 15

The Lord rejects Saul as King

verses 1 -6

Samuel tells Saul that he is the one that the Lord sent to anoint him king over the people of Israel. Samuel tells him to listen to the Lord’s message. Samuel tells Saul that the Lord said he will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid (troubled them). The Lord sends Saul to go attack the Amalekites do not spare anyone.

Saul called together two hundred thousand men and then gathered ten thousand men from Judah. Saul and his men went to the city of Amalek and destroyed the city telling the kenites to leave.

In the verses we see Good making true on a promise and Saul standing as his servant.

verses 7 – 16

Saul spared Agag the king of the Amalekites and his best cattle, sheep, the fat calves. the word said all that was good. these they were unwilling to destroy completely. but everything that they despised and was weak the totally destroyed.

The Lord said to Saul I am upset that I made Saul king he has turned against me and not followed my instructions. the word says Samuel was upset and cried out to the Lord all night

The word says that the next morning, Samuel went to look for Saul and was told that Saul went to Carmel to set up a monument of himself and has gone down to Gilgal. When Samuel finally caught up with Saul. Saul greeted Samuel by saying ” May the Lord bless you, I have carried out the Lords instructions.” Samuel asks Saul then why does he hear the sheep in his ear, what are the cattle that he hears. Saul answers that the Soldiers brought them to sacrifice to God, but everything else was destroyed. Samuel tells Saul to stop talking, He’s going to deliver a message from the Lord.

Have you ever gotten instructions from God, and only did half of what He told you to do? This is what Saul did. Not only did he not follow instructions but he also say fit to blame it on his soldiers. This verse shows us how when people are in the wrong they will quickly look for the next person to put the blame on. It’s when we are willing to stand when we are right and wrong we strengthen our foundation of faith. Be ready to step from behind the bush and say here I am Lord. This is the same scene we see in Genesis 3: 7 – 15.

verse 17 -23

Samuel say to Saul “Even though you were once Small, didn’t you become the head of the tribe of Israel? the Lord anointed you king over Israel.” Samuel reminds Saul that the Lord sent him on a mission to go out and destroy completely everything, not take what you want for yourself. Saul responds by saying he did obey, he saved the King and the plunder to sacrifice at Gilgal. Samuel asks Saul which does the Lord delight in the most; Obeying, or sacrifice. Samuel tells saul the rebellion is like sin of divination and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. You have rejected the word of the Lord , and now Lord has rejected you as king.

In the verse we see that when God tells us to purge something or someone it is important to be obedient and purge all of it not half of it and negotiate the rest. The Lord expects obedience when it comes to instructions. You can’t lead God he has to Lead you.

verse 24 – 33

The word says; that Saul told Samuel, he had sinned and violated the Lord’s instructions. And he was afraid of the people, so he gave into them. Saul begged for Samuel to forgive him of his sin and come back with him to worship the Lord. Samuel said to Saul that he wouldn’t go back with him because he has rejected the Lord, and the Lord has rejected him.

Samuel turned to leave and Saul grabbed the hem of his robe and it tore. Samuel said to Saul “the Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel away from you today and has given it to your neighbor who is better than you.  God does not change his mind, he is not a man that he should lie.” Saul begged of Samuel one more time to go back with him and worship. Samuel did and Saul worshiped.

Samuel told Saul to bring him Agag king of the Amalekites. Agag came out as if he was confident that he wasn’t going to die. Samuel says to him “as your sword made women childless so will your mother be childless among women.” Agag was put to death before the Lord at Gilgal by Samuel. The word says until the day he died Samuel did not go to see Saul, even though he missed him. The Lord was upset that he made Saul king over Israel.

When we don’t follow the instructions we don’t get to the next level. You can start following instructions start celebrating and get distracted by sin. when you see all the things that you were doing and then you realize that everything just stopped. That’s because somewhere in there it became about your wants and needs and not God. You forgot to consult God. Look at Saul His instructions did not tell him to save some valuable sacrifices his instructions said to destroy everything. What happen to Saul he lost the kingdom the Lord found someone else that will do the Job.

1 Samuel Chapter 14

Jonathan attacks the Philistines

Verses 1 – 14

The word says that Jonathan son of Saul went to the young man who cared his armor and said “let’s go to the Philistines outpost” Jonathan did not tell his father where he was going. Saul was on the outskirts of Gibeah of Benjamin with the six hundred men.

Jonathan told the young man that they “will be going to the outpost of the uncircumcised men and perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. nothing can render the Lord from saving either by many or by few.” The armor bearer said to Jonathan ” Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.” Jonathan told the young man ” let’s go, and if they come up to us we will climb up because that will be our sign that the Lord is with us.”

The Philistines saw Jonathan and the young man and told them to come up to us and we will teach you a lesson. Jonathan said to the young man climb up behind me the Lord has given them into the hands of Israel. The word said that Jonathan and his armor bearer killed about twenty men in an area about half an acre.

If you joined into yesterdays study that was a word on faith as Jonathan said no matter how many people are against, if you have faith that God will have favor over you, You will be blessed all you need to do is walk now in faith.

in these verses we see that Jonathan’s faith in God saw him through.

Israel routs the Philistines

verses 15 – 23

The word says Panic struck the whole army and the ground shock it was panic sent by God. Sauls lookout saw the army melting in all directions. saul told one of the men Check everyone and see who has left us. The news came back to him the it was only Jonathan and his armor bearer who was gone.

As Saul was talking to the priest the large volumn of confusion increased in the Philistines camp. Saul prepared his men for battle, even the men who had run off and hid came out with courage. That day the Lord rescued Israel and the battle moved on to Beth Aven.

Sometimes it takes one person to light fire for others to see Gods power. It was the faith that  Jonathan had in God, that brought God into there presence. He didn’t bring the ark, he didn’t a priest, or prophet himself and another faithful man, and God showed up.

When God showed up, so did the courage of others. when we practice Faith others see the reaction. When we show the power of God through our lives and choices our neighbors see, how good God is to us.  This allows them to begin to walk in faith as well.

verse 24 – 48

Jonathan eats honey

The word tells us that the men of Israel was distressed because none of the men had eaten due to Saul bounding them saying, “Cursed is any man who eats before evening comes or I have avenged myself on my enemies”

Jonathan had not been there when Saul told the men not to eat anything. When going through woods the men came to a path were honey was oozing out of honeycombs. Jonathan dipped the end of his staff in it and tasted it, his eyes brightened. One of the men saw this and told Jonathan what his father said. Jonathan responded by stating that his father had made trouble for his country, had the men eaten they would have killed more philistines then they did.

That day after the men had struck down the philistines in Micmash to Aijalon the mean were exhausted the started slaughtering cattle, sheep, calves. the began to eat the meat with the blood. Some one had brought this to the attention of Saul. Saul called his men and told them to bring the cattle and sheep to him and they will slaughter them and eat them. Saul for the first time build an alter after everyone had slaughtered and ate. Afterward Saul told everyone lets go down after the philistines by night and plunder them to dawn, and lets not leave one of them alive. the people replied do whatever seems best to you. The priest intervened and said let’s inquire of God here.

Saul asked God but did not get a reply Saul then asked who had commited a sin, no one came forward so Saul cast the lots and the men where cleared then Saul cast lots between he and Jonathan and Jonathan was taken. Saul asked Jonthan what he had done and jonathan tld him about tasting the honey and then asked. “Must I die?” The men stepped in and said to Saul he the one who has brought the great deliverance?  The men said as long as the Lord lives not a hair on his head shall fall, for he did this today with God’s help. with that Jonathan was not put to death.

Saul stopped pursuing the Philistines, and the went back to there own lands. After Saul had went to rule over Israel he fought their enemies on every side and delivered Israel from the hands who plundered them.

we are reminded where we stand when we walk in faith and in Gods presence. Jonathan showed faith in God through action and I believe God spared his life through the people speaking up.

Through Saul we are reminded of patience and to wait on God. Because saul had not heard from God when he wanted an answer he decided to start casting lots and making decisions. God sparing Jonathan’s life through showed God very much present it just wasn’t time to do what Saul wanted to do and he had to wait.

There will be times when you will get part of the instructions  but then you will wait and in that wait you should be preparing. It’s when we rush without waiting on God’s next set instruction, we began to drop faith and work through our own heart. Obedience in faith is what gets you to the next level.

Now for the Important part If you are looking for Salvation and would like to begin to build your foundation of faith. 1 Samuel Chapter 13

Samuel rebukes Saul

verses 1 – 15

When Saul became king he was thirty years old and he served for forty- two years. Saul built his army by selecting Three thousand men from Israel. two thousand of them were with him in Micmash and in the hill country of Bethel. The word says  a thousand men were with Jonathan at Gibeah in Benjamin. The rest of the men were sent back to their homes.

The word says that Jonathan attacked the Philistines outpost. Saul had the trumpets blown and sent out a message to the Hebrews that the Philistines were attacked and Israel now has become a stench to the philistines. The people were summoned to be with Saul in Gilgal.

Philistine prepared to fight Israel with Thousands of chariots, Charioteers, and as many soldiers as the sand on the seashore. They went up and camped at Micmash. When the men of Israel saw that Philistine was ready to attack the became scared. Some hid in caves and others crossed the Jordan river. Saul stayed in Gilgal, the soldiers that were with him were terrified. Saul waited the seven days that Samuel told him to wait, Samuel didn’t  go to Gilgal and Saul’s men scattered. Saul told some one to bring him the burnt offering and just as soon as he finished making the offering Samuel arrived and Saul went to greet him.

Samuel asked Saul what he had done? and Saul replied that when the men where leaving, and Samuel hadn’t come at the time he said he would, plus Philistines were coming he felt compelled to seek Gods favor.

Samuel tells Saul that he did not keep the Lords command, if he had the Lord would have established his Kingdom. The Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him leader of his people. because you didn’t keep his command. Samuel left and Saul took count of his men which came up to six hundred.

These fifteen verses reminds me that it can seem that the enemy may out number us, and bring fear that everything we kn ow will crumble. It is faith in knowing that God will provide that we should walk with. We can’t go oh my, the lights will be cut off let me now repent, and pray so that the Lord will fix it. God know our hearts he knows when we are coming to him just for satisfactions.

When Saul prepared the burnt offering himself it was like he was saying the Lords time has come and passed and Samuel isn’t here so I’m going to have to do it myself. We can not give our obstacles to the Lord and then say let me do it myself. That’s like saying God isn’t Sovereign. It’s having faith that we serve a Sovereign God, and his time is right on time. Glory to God.

verse 16 -22

Israel without weapons

Saul, his son Jonathan and the men all stayed in Gibeah in Benjamin. There were no blacksmiths to be found in Israel, the word says the Philistines said ” Otherwise the Hebrews will make swords or spears.” all Israel went down to Philistine to have there weapons and tools sharpen. On the day of battle the only men with weapons were Saul and Jonathan.

While we look back on chapter 13 we see that it is faith that keeps us in Gods instructions. verses 16-22 shows us that our faith will be tested. If we look at the fact that only Saul and his son Jonathan had weapons. What does your faith tell you? My Faith tells me that even with two people with weapons, God has the Power to bring favor over them against thousands of men. We serve a God that is Sovereign over all things including our enemies including that thing that is preparing to attack you.

Today Meditate on how you can practice faith. When you start to stress ask God for instructions and allow him to prepare your path. Know that you serve a Sovereign God rest in your foundation of faith practice building your faith.

Now for the Important part, If you are looking for Salvation and will like to start building your foundation download the free bible app, google, or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead. Build your faith by studying the word of God, Worshiping and praise, prayer and fellowship.

Be Blessed

1 Samuel Chapter 11

Verse 1 – 18

Samuel says to the people of Israel, “I have heard you all, and I have given you your king”. Samuel tells the people that he is old and has served in his position since he was a young boy. Samuel asked the people of Israel “have I been unjust or stolen from anyone?” The people replied to him “no”. Samuel says then let God be the witness that I have not done anyone wrong.

Samuel begins to tell the people that he is now going to tell everyone all the things that the Lord has done for them and their fore fathers. Samuel says After Jacob went to Egypt they cried for the Lord’s help and he sent them Moses and Aaron who brought the people from Egypt. The people forgot God so He let them into the hands of Sisera and Philistine and the people cried out to the Lord and recognized their sin and Lord sent them Jerub-Baal, Barak, Jephthah and Samuel. He delivered you from the hands of your enemy on every side so that you could live securely.

Then you saw Nahash the king of the Ammonites moving in and you start crying for a king.even though the Lord God is your King. Now that you have your king if you and your king follow the commands that the Lord God gave you then you are good. But if you don’t follow the commands then He will be against you, as he did to your fathers. Samuel tells the people that he will ask the Lord for thunder and rain so that the people can see what evil they did when they asked the Lord for a king. That day Samuel called on the Lord for thunder and rain and there was thunder and rain. The people were in awe of God and Samuel.

These verses reminds me that when we are praying for God to work things out for us and then we try to go another route and start worrying about it ourselves it’s like doubting that God serves as king over us. We do it may times with out thinking. We pray to God for that finacial breakthrough and then we worry about the bills. If you prayed for the breakthrough then the faith should be there to know that he will move you exactly where you need to be.

Every time the Israelite’s faced a worry they turned their backs to what God had already done for them. At times all you need to say is Lord you know what we need, so I know that you will provide. The only thing that we should be focused on is our purposes and assignments which are the bottles of oil that are to be sold to gain income. II Kings 4:1-7

verse 19- 25

The people of Israel said to Samuel pray for us so that we will not die, we have added to our sins by asking for a king. Samuel tells the people do not worry you have sinned but serve the Lord now and don’t turn your back on him. stay away from the idols they will do you no good. The Lord will not reject his people because he is pleased to make you his own. Samuel tells the people I will do my part and pray for you and I will teach you to pray, but if you persist in doing evil you and your king will be swept away.

This chapter is clear as day. God forgives us over and over again as he did with the Israels but we need to walk in away that is pleasing to God. I will repeat this you will have to be in the word, have a prayer life, faith, and fellowship. It’s important to follow instruction the instruction that Samuel gave the people of Israel was you must not turn your back on God and the Lord will not reject you.

Now for the most important part if you are looking for salvation and would like to start your walk of righteousness and build a sound foundation of faith you can download the free bible app, google, or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 confess with your heart that Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. 1 Samuel Chapter 11

verse 1 – 3

This chapter begins by telling us that Nahash the Ammonite went  and took over Jabesh Gilead. All the men asked him to make a treaty with them and they will be subject to him. Nahash told them that the only way he make a treaty with them was is he can gouge out the right eye of everyone of them and make a disgrace on all Israel. The elders of Jabesh asked for seven days to send a messenger to find someone to rescue them.

Verse 4 – 8

When the messenger out to Gibeah where Saul lived he told the people the terms and everyone cried. Saul was just coming back from the fields. Saul asked what was wrong with the people? and why were they crying. The people repeated to him what was said by the merchant.

When Saul heard the people the spirit of God came upon him and he burned with anger. Saul took a [air of Oxen. cut them up in pieces and sent them by messengers throughout Israel with a message saying this will happen to the oxen of anyone who does not follow Saul and Samuel. The bible says the terror of the Lord fell on the people, and they turned out as one man. When Saul rallied everyone up in Bezek the men of Israel was three hundred thousan strong and th men of Judah was thirty thousand.

After reading these verse I thought about how God will let you know when it’s time to step in. WHen the time comes the presence of God will be with you. In chapter ten Samuel told Saul do what you want with your hands, God is with you.

Now in these verse the spirit of God came on him and it was time to move in his purpose. God will move us when it’s time, no matter how much you prepare for it. when it comes the power of God will come with it. That’s apart of building your foundation of faith, will you have the faith to know that God will be present.

verse 9 – 11

Saul told the messenger to tell the people of Jabesh Gilead that they will be delivered, by the time the sun is hot the next day ( Around noon). When the messenger returned with the message the people in Jabesh were happy. They said to the Amonnites that the would surrender to them the next day and then they could do what ever they wanted.

That night Saul and his men entered the camp of the Ammonites and slaughtered them until noon the next day. The men who survived where scattered, the men were scattered so that no two men were together.

As we read on we learn that when the power of God is with us, we are unstoppable. When God gives you your assignment and you begin to walk in it. You feel a sense of peace wholeness, and strength. you begin to understand that this is the thing that you were put here to do. As you begin to walk in it, Gods power begins to shine within you. Serving a God whole is true to his word and sovereign over all things Saul and his men not only surpassed the number of enemies but the all went forward in obedience.

The people of Jabesh showed us examples of faith, they had the confidence that Saul was going to come and defeat their enemies. So much faith, that they were able to encourage the Ammonites to stay to the next day and they could do what ever they wanted. Do you have faith like that? Faith that will allow you to sacrifice your safety ?

verse 12 – 15

The people then looked around and said now where are the ones that doubted Saul being the king. We should put them to death. Saul intervened and said nobody will be but to death. This is the day the Lord rescued Israel.

Samuel told the people to go with him back to Gilgal and reaffirm the kingship. The people went back and confirmed Saul as king in the presence of the Lord. There the sacrificed fellowship offerings before the Lord, and Saul and all the Israel lights had a great celebration.

Have you ever been the person that the Lord uses to give the blessings, to pass out the answers to prayers. I never thought about that until now. Saul was the answer to the peoples prayers to be saved and defeat there enemy for them. The Lord sent Saul because he heard the cry of the people. So now the Lord used his empty vessel ( Saul) and rescued the people of Israel.

Today meditate on the how you can become an empty vessel, how can God use you to pass out the answer to someones prayers.

For the most important part, if you are looking for Salvation or the first step to becoming an empty vessel download a free bible app, google, or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead and you shall be Saved. get yourself into the word of good and fellowship with a sound doctrine bible based church.

Be Blessed

1 Samuel Chapter 10

verse 1 – 5

Samuel took out a flask and poured oil over Saul’s head and kissed him. Samuel says to Saul  “has not the Lord anointed you leader over his inheritance”. Samuel tells Saul that when he leaves him he will run in to two men in Zelzah at the border of Benjamin. One of the men will tell him that the donkeys has been found and his father is worried about him  and asking what shall he do about his son?

Samuel tells Saul then he will go on until he reaches a great tree in Tabor. Samuel says three men that are going up to God at Bethel will meet him there. One will have three young goats, the other will have three loaves of bread and another a skin of wine. they will greet Saul and offer him two loaves of bread which he will take.

Look at God! When God has prepared an assignment for you he will line up everyone that is needed to prepare you. Looking back at chapter 9 we know that what Samuel told Saul that one of the first two men will tell him. was the same thing that Saul told the servant in chapter before they met up with Samuel.

God will send activation words to show you that what he is preparing is greater than you, it will show you he has his hands all over it.

verse 5 – 8

Samuel tells Saul after leaving the three men he will go to the Gibeah ( Hill or Hill town)  of God where there is a philistine outpost. Samuel says to Saul that on his way he will meet a procession of prophets in the mist of worship. Samuel says they will be prophesying and the spirit of the Lord will come down and Saul will  prophesy with them and will be changed in to a different person. Samuel says once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you.

Samuel says go down ahead of me to Gilgal, and I will come and sacrifice burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, but you must wait seven days until I come down  and tell you what to do.

These verses are very important to our foundation of faith. Samuel says to Saul do anything your hands want to do, God is with you. Samuel reminds us that once the spirit comes down upon us we will prosper. Having the faith that God wants us to do well and knowing that he wants us to have a relationship with him. In our relationship with God; being in his presences allows the impossible to become possible.

verse 9 – 13

As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed his heart, and all the signs were fulfilled that day. When Saul met up with the procession of prophets he began to prophesy as Samuel said he would.

The people who had known Saul for years were shocked to hear Saul prophesy they asked each other  What happen to the son of Kish? Is Saul with the prophets. A man that lived in Gibeah said to them and who is their father? After Saul finished prophesying he went up to the high place.

When God puts you in position to walk in your purpose people that you have known for years, your whole life will be confused. Saul’s old friends and his fathers peoples were shocked to see him among the prophets. they wondered how he change so fast? when did this happen?

verse 14- 19

Saul’s uncle asked him and the servant where had they been? Saul answered by telling his uncle that they were looking for the donkeys, and when they had not found them they went to Samuel. Saul’s uncle asked him what Samuel had told him. Saul answered by telling his uncle that Samuel told him the donkeys had been found. Saul did not tell his uncle anything else that Samuel said.

Samuel summoned the people of Israel to Mizpah and told them what the Lord said.

” I bought Irael out of Eygpt, and delivered you from the power of Egypt and all the kingdom that oppressed you. But you have now rejected your God, who saves you out of all your calamities and distresses. and you have said ‘No, set a king over us.’ So now present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and clans”

sometimes when we are given assignments, it is best to keep them to ourselves until we get all the instructions. Speaking what God is about to do to people especially the people that questions the power of God can lead to an attack on your faith. Saul could have told his uncle what Samuel said and his uncle could have found 99 problems and then discouraged Saul in 99 ways.

After Samuel spoke with Saul he then went to the people of Israel and gave God’s message. There are times when things will have an order, it’s important to pray on things that God has given you to do. after knowing what to do, you then pray for the Holy Spirit to show you how to do it. The Lord told the people of Israel to gather by tribe and clan.

What do you think would have happen if Samuel told the people before he gave Saul his assignment?

Verse 20 – 27

Samuel brought the tribes of Israel near, the tribe of Benjamin was chosen. He brought the tribe of Benjamin forward clan by clan and a Matri’s (Mother) clan was chosen. Finally Saul was chosen but when they looked for him he was no where to be found. They asked the Lord has the man come yet?

The Lord answered he has hidden himself among the baggage. They pulled Saul out and brought him forward. Saul stood taller then the others. Samuel says to the people Do you see why the Lord chose him? there is no one like him among the people. The people began to shout long live the king.

Samuel explained the regulation of the kingship, wrote them down and brought them to the Lord. He them dismissed the people to their homes. Saul went to his home in Gibeah, followed by men who God had turned their hearts. Their were also troublemakers who questioned How could Saul save them? The didn’t like Saul and brought them no gifts. Saul kept silent.

To move to the next level, we at times get taken out of our comfort. The people of Israel had found themselves in the mist of a new thing. They were excited and willing to try this new thing, a king to do the hard work.

Saul was hiding in the baggage, has God ever put you on a new path that will challenge you and you get nervous and try to find every reason why you aren’t the one for the job. I’m sure that was what Saul was going through when he was hiding in the baggage. The Lord showed up on that by telling where Saul had hidden. God will remind us and push us toward our purpose. You will find all kind of people calling you out using activation words, encouraging you to take your position.

When on assignment you will have a few troublemakers (we call them haters) they will say every negative thing to make you run and hide. Saul’s’ reaction to them reminds me of Jesus. There is no reason to try to prove anything or give a response. The truth will show it’s self son enough. That is the time to stand even stronger in position.

Now for the most important part. If you are looking for a relationship with God, If you are ready to stand in position and allow God to be in your presence, and prepare you to shock those thought they new who you are or who you are destined to be. Download the free bible app, google, or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. get your self in to the word of the Lord and find a bible based church for fellowship.

Be Blessed

1 Samuel Chapter 9

verse 1 – 10

Samuel Anoints Saul

A Benjamite who’s name was Kish had a son by the name of  Saul. The bible says that Saul was an exceptional man who had no equals among the Israelite’s.  Donkeys that belonged to Kish had gone missing. Kish sends Saul and a servant out to look for the donkeys. After traveling and looking for the donkeys Saul and the servant had not found the any donkeys.

When they reached the district of Zuph, Saul told the servant that it was time to stop before his father starts worrying about them and not the donkeys. The servant tells Saul that there was a man of God in the town who was highly respected and everything that he says comes true. The servant suggest to Saul that they try going to the man of God to see which way to take.

Saul says to the servant if “we go see the man what can we give him as a gift?” The servant offered up a quarter to give to the man of God. Saul agreed and they went to see the man of God.

Praise God! that the servant was ready. When we are standing at a decision to go in the way of God or turn in the other direction. There will be some excuse that will keep us from where God is expecting us to be. Just as the servant was ready with the quarter, God will send someone or something to come and knock that excuse to the ground. Now we have to make the decision to walk forward or turn around.

Verse 11

Saul and the servant met ran into girls on their way to draw water and asked them if the seer (Man of God) was there. The women told them to hurry up and catch him before he goes to the high hill to bless the sacrifice for the town. Saul and the servant caught up with Samuel as he was on his way to high ground.

The bible tells us that the day before Saul came to Samuel God had told Samuel that a man would come to him from Benjamin and he was to anoint the man as leader. the man would be the one who will deliver the Israelite’s from the hands of the Philistines. The Lord told Samuel that he heard the cry of his people.

When Samuel saw Saul God spoke to him and told him that Saul was the man that he had told him about. Saul asks Samuel if he know where the seer was? Samuel tells him that he is the seer and to go up to the high place, that he (Saul) will be eating with Samuel and in the morning he will tell him all that is in his heart. Samuel tells Saul that the donkeys that he lost have already been found. Samuel says to Saul; to whom all desire of Israel turn, if not to you and all your father’s family.

Saul answers Samuel by saying that he is not a Benjamite, from the smallest clan of Israel  and his clan is the least of all the tribes of Benjamin. Why would you say something like that to me.

Samuel brought Saul and the servant to the hall and had them sit at the head of the table among the people that were invited. Samuel tells the cook to bring the piece of meat that he told him to put to the side.

The cook placed a leg and what was on it in front of Saul. Samuel tells Saul to eat because it had been set aside for him for the occasion, from the time he invited him.

When they came from the high place Samuel told Saul to get ready, he told Saul to send his servant ahead and he stay behind, he had a message from God for him (Saul).

Praise God! God will send someone to you with a message, some would say confirmation. the path to where you need to be may take a while to get to, by the time you arrive in position the food will be ready.

God sets aside what is meant for you, when you arrive in position and sit at the table, your plate will be placed in front of you to feast. You have to take the journey, you have to go looking for the lost donkeys. It’s in faith that God has prepared something for you, that allows you to take the journey to get to the table.

In this day, take the time to meditate on your journey are you walking toward the table? Are you looking for the lost donkeys? Are you standing on your foundation of faith? Remember what Samuel told Saul his plate had been set aside since he invited him. God has placed your plate to the side, now take the journey toward the table in the High Place.

Be Blessed!

Now for the most important part. If you are looking to start your journey toward the table. If you are looking for Salvation, a relationship with the Sovereign God. Google; download a free bible app; turn your bible to Romans 10:9 confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. Study the word of the Lord and find yourself a group of people looking to be pleasing to God, and on a journey toward what has been set aside by God and enjoy a wonderful relationship with the Lord.

1 Samuel Chapter 8

verse 1- 5

The word tells us that as Samuel grew old he appointed his sons as judges and they served at Beersheba. His sons did not walk  in the presence of God as Samuel did so they began profiting from the position of judges by excepting bribes, dishonesty, and lying in the name of justice.

The elders of Israel came to Samuel and told him that his sons did not walk with God and he himself had become old, so he needed to pick a leader. He would need to appoint a king as the other nations did.

When going over the verses I thought about how as a parent we look to our children to walk just as we showed them. We forget that when God gave us free will, he also gave the same gift to our children when they were born. We expect to them to do right but sometimes they make the wrong decision and become total opposites of who and what we are.

verse 6 – 9

The word says that when the people came to Samuel about a king leading them the news was unpleasing to him. So he went and prayed to the Lord about it. The word says the Lord told Samuel that the people weren’t rejecting Samuel  but was rejecting God as the have been doing since he brought them out of Egypt by forsaking God and serving other gods. The Lord tells Samuel to warn the people of what will happen when they are under a king.

In these verses we are reminded that when it comes to dealing with fleshly emotions it is always best to go in to prayer before making decisions. Because  Samuel wasn’t emotionally feeling at peace with what the people of Israel had requested he went to the Lord to see if the Lord was okay with it.

The Lord told him to do what the people asked. In our walk toward building a foundation of faith we know that God will let us learn the hard way it makes the saying ” I can show you, better than I can tell you” come to life. God has a way of doing this in God and bad times. we can feel the effects of doing the wrong and we can feel the blessings when we do the right thing ( Which is always come to Him and know no matter what He’s got you).

Verse 10 – 21

Samuel told the People what the Lord wanted them to know about having a king, He explained to them that they would have to give 10% of everything they bring in. Their children will be slaves to the king and would have to be in war or cooking and baking in the kings home.

The people still wanted a king. Samuel went back and told Lord and the Lord told Samuel to give them a king.

Seeing what others have can make a person not see the truth of the effects. In the case of the people of Israel they were warned of what was to come with a king but still thought it was batter then what they had.

Have you ever had a job and only saw the things you disliked about, then get a new job and realize those things were nothing compared to what your dealing with now. The people of Israel made their decisions on their fleshly emotions had they had a relationship with God they would have went to the Lord before making a decision based on the anger of what Samuel’s sons were doing.

As you go about your day  try to with hold from reacting with your flesh if something comes up and makes your blood boil try to withhold from reacting. Pray on it and allow the Holy Spirit to give you your response.

Be blessed

Now for the Important part; If you are looking for SALVATION and would like to begin to build a relationship with the Lord. Download the free bible app; google; or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and God raised him from the dead you shall be saved. get into the word and begin to build a foundation of faith.

I Samuel Chapter 7

logo_2042734_web

Blessings Everyone,

I Pray that you all are in the presence of God, that he is walking with you and guiding your decisions everyday. To my followers thank you for you support and sharing the word of Lord with me. If you are new to the bible study blog welcome thanks for joining in let me introduce myself,

My name is Wilhelmina Lundy and I am a servant of God, I serve as one of the leaders in the Walk It Out ministry, I am the founder of  Journey In Praise  Ministries and that is in the podcast, blogs, and broadcast (The broadcast will be back up soon but you can catch previous studies on Youtube and periscope).new-journey-in-praise-flyer

I Samuel Chapter 7

Verse 1 – 4

The Ark was in Kiriath Jearim for twenty years, all the people mourned and sought after the Lord. Samuel said to the house of Israel ” If you are returning to the Lord with all your hearts, then rid yourself of foreign gods and the ashtoreths and comment yourselves to the Lord and serve him only, and he will deliver you out if the hands of the Philistines. The Israelites put away there Baals and Ashtoreths and served the Lord only.

when we come to the point in our life when we know that there is no way but Gods way we need to get in the place of letting go of all things that are not of God. the things that we put before a relationship with him. Samuel tells the house of Israel that you have to let those things go if you want God to come in and be your provider and your protector you must allow him in all parts of your life. Samuel tells the house of Israel that if you want to RETURN to the Lord you’ll have to give all your heart and remove foreign gods.

verse 5- 11

Samuel tells the house of Israel to assemble all Israel at Mizpah, they poured out water to the Lord, fasted and confessed their sins to the Lord. Samuel lead the people at Mizpah. When the Philistines heard that the Israelite’s were at Mizpah the rulers came up to attack the Israelites. When the Israelites heard what was going on they were afraid, they asked Samuel not to stop crying out to the Lord on their behalf so that the Lord would rescue them from the hands of the philistines. Samuel took a baby lamb and offered it up to the Lord as a whole burnt offering. while Samuel was offering the sacrifice the philistines came near to battle with the Israelites. The Lord let out a loud thunder that scared the philistines. The men of Israel pursued the philistines and slaughtered down to Beth Car.

As I read these verses I couldn’t help but think of the sacrifice of the lamb. It reminds me of Jesus’s sacrifice to save us. It’s when we ask for forgiveness and give our whole heart to God, he steps in and protects and provides for us.

verse 12- 16

Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named the it Ebenezer and stated “Thus far the Lord has helped us” The Philistines were subdued and did not invade the Israelites again.

As long as Samuel lived the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines. The towns from Ekron to Gath which the philistines had captured from Israel had been returned to her, Israel delivered neighbors from power of the philistines, and there were peace between the Israelites and the Amorites.

Samuel continued to be the judge over all the days of his life. Year to year he went from Bethel to Gilgal to Mizpah judging Israel in all those places. He always went back to Ramah were his home was, and there he also judged Israel. And he built an alter there to the Lord.

When we think of  a Judge we know that it’s the person who was sent to be our intercessor, the one who will go to the Lord on our behalf and past judgement for the people of God. When we start our walk with God and begin to build our relationship assignments are put into our life. Samuel was walking in his assignment being available to God’s people when they needed him.

Praise God! Think about the moment Samuel sacrificed the lamb. The people of Israel was sacred but knew that they had to return to the one true and living God. They through out their idols and gave it all to God. when was the moment you allowed God to have it all?

Now for the important part; If you are looking for salvation and would like to know where to start. download the free bible app, google, or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe with your heart that God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. get yourself in to the word and build a relationship and a foundation of faith that will take you a mighty long way. Be Blessed
