I Samuel Chapter 30

cropped-logo_2042734_web.jpg

Blessing everyone,

I pray that you are working within the Lord’s presences, when we are building a Foundation of Faith, one of the most important things to know is; we can’t do it alone. We are not meant to do it alone. Gen 2:18 tells us that it is not good for a man to be alone. (you may say come on Wilhelmina that is referring to a man and a woman) Lev 25:35 If one of your countrymen becomes poor and unable to support himself among you, help him as you would an alien or a temporary resident, so he can continue to live among you. This shows us that it is not good for man to be alone or anyone for that matter. When we begin to have children, we were given more helpers. We are born as a helper in our tribe. When two or more are gathered God is in our mist. (you and your helpers) Last one, and when there is no help; Psalm 72:12 For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. We can’t do it on our own, it is not only our responsibility to each other it is one of our commandments, and for those who can’t get any help the Lord steps in and shifts things and then places divine help.

I Samuel Chapter 30

David destroys the Amalekites

Verse 1 -10

The word says that on the third day David and his men Ziklag and the Amelikites had raided Negev and Ziklag. They had burned it, taken the women captive old and young they didn’t kill anyone but they took them and went on their way.

The word says that the men cried out loud until they had no strength. Their wives and children were taken including David’s. The men wanted to stone David, they blamed him for this. But David found strength in the Lord. David told Abiathar to bring him the ephod, when Abiathat brought the ephod David inquired of the Lord

“shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I take them over?”

The Lord responded

“pursue them, you will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue”

The word says six hundred men went with him where two hundred were too tired to continue and the four hundred went on.

I’m going to jump the gun remember when the Lord told Saul to destroy the Amalekites (see chapter 15) are you thinking what I’m thinking. David is going to do what Saul failed to do. But I’m going to hold it this isn’t a long chapter lets continue.

Verse 10 -31

The word says that David’s men brought an Egyptian to him and they feed him and gave him water (remember Lev 25:35) the word says that the Egyptian was revived he had not eaten or drunk anything for three days and three nights.

David asked the man to whom do you belong? And the Egyptian man told David that he was a slave abandoned by his master an Amalekite when he became ill. He told David all the places that they raided which included Negev and burning down Ziklag

David asked the Egyptian slave if he could lead him to the raid party, and the slave was willing as long as David wouldn’t kill him or hand him to his master. The Egyptian slave led David to where the Amalekites were and they were spread over the country side enjoying the plunder of their raids; the word says that David fought them from dusk until the evening of the next day. David recovered everything that the Amalekites took including his two wives. He took the flock and herds, and his men drove everything ahead of him saying “This is David’s plunder”

On their way back, they came to the ravine where the two hundred men were, the evil men among David said that the men that didn’t go should get nothing, but they can take their wives and children and go. David told his men No, they must not do that with what the Lord has given you, the Lord has protected us, and handed over the forces that came up against us.

David told his men that the share of the men who stayed behind well be the same as the men who went to battle.

The word says when David got back to Ziklag he sent some of the plunder to the elders of Judah they were his friends with the message

“Here is a present for you, from the plunder of the enemy”

David sent plunder to friends in Bethel, Ramoth, Negev, and Jattir, Aroe, Siphmoth

,Eshtemoa, and Racal he also sent to Jerahmeelites. Kenites, and people in Hormah, Bor Ashan,  Athach and Hebron and all the other places that he had roamed.

When the Lord told David to go forth to recover what was taken from the Amalekites, the Amalekites that the Lord told Saul to destroy. Now here it’s been put into position for David to be on one Accord with God, and things have been shifted to make sure that it is strategically played out.

The Lord provided help for David, the Egyptian slave had gotten sick, and was left behind to die, the Lord sent him help, the Lord positioned David to be there to help the slave, the Lord had positioned the slave to David.

We all have to be ready and in position to help, and to except help. In the intro without readying the chapter the Lord gave me scripture on help. Whomever this word is for, be ready to help, be ready to except help.

I Samuel Chapter 29

Achish sends David Back to Ziklag

 Verse 1 – 7

The word says the Philistines had gathered their forces at Aphek and Israel camped by the spring in Jezreel.  As the Philistines were marching the word says there were hundreds and thousands of them. David and his men were at the rear. The commander asked Achish

“What about the Hebrews?”

Achish reminded them of who David was, and confirmed that David had been faith to him and gave him no reason to think that he would betray him. The word says Philistines commanders were angry and told Achish to send David back. The Philistines worried that when they got to battle. that David would turn on them to please Saul. They said isn’t this the David that they sing about

”’Saul has slain his thousands,

And David his ten thousands’?”

The word says that Achish said to David” as surely as the Lord lives you have been reliable” Achish begin to tell David that the Philistine commanders didn’t want him and he begin to tell David why?

Let me tell you, There will be some places that we are not meant to go. Let me repeat there are some places that we are not meant to go. Let’s move forward so that you know why.

Verse 9 – 11

The word says that David asked Achish  ’haven’t I been reliable?’ and Achish assured David that it was not him who didn’t want him there, but the commanders of Philistines were not happy with his presence.

The word says David then went back to the lands of the Philistines in the early morning, and the Philistines went to Jezreel.

I’m going to say this, there are places that we can go, and there are places that we can’t go. The Lord will shift you at the right time. Remember the Lord said to David don’t touch his anointed (please see other chapters 24&26). Now let’s say that David ended up going with the Philistines and he killed Saul by accident, their will go his obedience his instruction was to not touch the Lord’s anointed.

At times, we know we are not to be in a place, you know because it will trouble your spirit. Be ready to move when someone says I love you, but you can’t be here right now.

Blessings everyone,

I pray that you all are in good health and spirits. Today let’s go about our day, showing how grateful we are that God deemed it a good thing to wake us up this morning. Sometimes life will have us so caught up that we don’t even pay attention to the fact that some didn’t make it through the night. This is the thing that we don’t want to think about so we don’t acknowledge it. Yet it’s the first reason to think the Lord. Hallelujah we made the cut.

I Samuel chapter 28

Saul and the witch

Verse 1-8

The bible tells us at this time the Philistines gathered their forces against Israel. Now Achish told David that he and his men would be joining them. David tells him “then you will be able to see what I can do.” At this time Samuel has passed away, Israel had mourned and buried him in his town of Ramah, the bible also tells us that Saul had expelled the mediums and spiritist from the land.

The Philistines setup in Shunem and Saul gathered at Gilboa with the Israelites. The word says that when Saul saw the philistines army he was afraid; terror filled his heart. Saul went to God, but the Lord did not answer him, in any outlets (Dreams, Urim, or prophets). When Saul didn’t hear from God, he told his attendants, to find a woman who was a medium, so that he may go and ask her somethings.

Saul disguised himself and at night he and two of his men went to the woman. Saul tells her to consult a spirit for him and bring up the one he tells her to.

I’m going to stop here for a minute, Saul was now at the point where he was desperate. Samuel had passed away, Daniel was among his enemy, and God had turned his back. All that was good in Saul’s life had now left. Now he called on those that was expelled due to being against the grace of God. ( witch craft, sorcery, medium)

Now he is so desperate that he is now willing to go against God to find his answers. When we go against God because we don’t hear from him. Let me tell you, when we don’t hear from God, it doesn’t mean go somewhere else, it means wait for him keep seeking him. Lets find out what happens next.

Verse 9- 25

The bible tells us that the woman tells him that

“Surely you know what Saul has done. He has cut off the mediums and the spiritist from the land. Why have you set a trap for my life to bring about my death?”

Saul promises the woman that as long as she lives she would not be punished for it.

The woman asked him who he needed to be called up, and Saul tells her that he needs her to bring up Samuel. The word says when she saw Samuel she cried out at the top of her voice (This woman screamed) she asked Saul why had he deceived her, she knew that he was Saul.

Saul told her not to be afraid and asks her what does she see. The woman begins to tell him she sees a spirit coming from the ground. Saul asks her what it looks like? and she begin to tell him an old man, wearing a robe coming up. The word says that Saul bowed down prostrate and Samuel asked him why have you disturbed me by bringing me up? Saul began to tell him that he was in distress, he began to tell Saul what was going on in his life.

Samuel tells Saul that the Lord has turned his back on him and the word that he had predicted through me Samuel was now coming to pass. Samuel tells Saul that he will lose the kingdom to his neighbor, David. Samuel tells Saul because he didn’t obey God’s instruction, the Lord has done this today. Samuel says the Lord will hand over Saul and Israel to the Philistines, he tells Saul that he and his son will be with him the next day.

Saul immediately fell flat on the floor, and trembled in fear. The woman saw that Saul was shaken and she offered to feed him so that he may strength to go on his way. Saul couldn’t eat but the men joined the women. The word said she butchered a fat calf and kneaded it without yeast, then she placed it in front of Saul and his men, and they ate. The same night they got up and left.

Saul was reminding that God’s word will stand. Not following instruction will place us in a certain position, but it is important to look at what we do after we don’t follow instruction. Because Saul never admitted to it being his and repented for not following instruction, the spirit of God ended up leaving from him and an evil spirit was left. Everything that was not of God Saul manage to do. He had begun to go to God with a half hart. Meaning he did pray but he also lived with a hate for David so strong that he wanted him dead. And when he needed God and God didn’t answer he went to a medium.

Be ready to say Lord I relent not following your instruction and I repent for my disobedience this is important for moving forward. If you can’t see the problem you can’t repent and have forgives for yourself and other people and this halts your deliverance

Now for the most Important part If you are looking to build your foundation in faith, you can Google, download a free bible app, or turn your bible to Romans chapter 10:9 and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. 1 Samuel chapter 27

David among the Philistines

The word says that David thought to himself that one of those days he would be destroyed by the hands of Saul. He thought the best thing that he could do was, escape to the land of the Philistines. He felt then Saul would give up his search and he could slip away.

The word says that David and six hundred men and their wives, this included David’s two wives all went to Gath. When Saul found out that David had went to Gath he stopped searching for him.

The word says that David had said to Achish the son of the king of Gath, that if he had found favor on David then to assign a place for him on the country side. David reason was

“why should your servant live in the royal city with you”

the scripture says on that day Achish gave David Ziklag and it has belonged to the king of Judah ever since. The word says that David lived in Philistine territory for a year and four months.

While David was with Achish in Gath, he would raided the Geshurites, the Girzites and the Amalekites and he would kill men and women leaving no one alive to be able to tell what he did. And when Achish would ask him where he went raiding that day, David would tell him against the desert of the Kenites, or against the desert of Judah and he would be dishonest with  Achish as long as he was in Gath. Achish trusted David and said to himself

“He has become Odious (unpleasant) to his people, the Israelites, that he will be my servant forever.”

This is a short chapter but it packs with so much vital information about David’s survival. David knew that Saul wouldn’t stop, he knew that Saul couldn’t control himself. He also knew that he couldn’t sleep among the Philistines while they knew he was killing their people, but what made sense was that if he killed everyone then Achish would think it was Saul that was killing them.

Now for the most Important part If you are looking to build your foundation in faith, you can Google, download a free bible app, or turn your bible to Romans chapter 10:9 and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead then you shall be saved. I Samuel Chapter 26

David again spares Saul’s life

Verse 1 – 12

The word of the Lord says, the Ziphites went to Saul and said isn’t David hiding in the hill of Hakilah, which faces Jeshimon?  Saul went to the desert of Ziph, with his three thousand chosen men of Israel, to search there for David. Saul made a camp and waited for David beside the road on the hill the word says that David stayed in the desert. When he saw that Saul was following him he sent someone to check and found that Saul had defiantly arrived.

David asked three of his men who would go with him in to the camp and Abishai said that he would go. That night David and Abishai went to the camp of Saul and his men, they saw Saul and his men sleeping. Saul’s spear was in the ground right beside his head. Abishai said to David, today God has handed Saul to you. Abishai asks David “now let me pin him to the ground with  one thrust of my spear, I won’t strike him twice” David answered Abishai saying “ Don’t destroy him, who can lay a finger on the Lord’s anointed and be guiltless? As surely as the Lord lives” David continues to tell Abishai that God will strike Saul when it is time, but he cannot lay a hand on the Lord’s anointing. David took the spear and a jug of water from near Saul’s head and moved it.

Praise God this reminds us that there is no reason to be petty or play the tit for tat game. These are the reason we say may God have mercy on your soul. If someone tries to attack you or destroy you, we are to allow God to determine what will happen to them. This is the reason why we look to the left in the right.

Yes there are times it may feel like the flesh will win the battle but remember David, he had a man chasing him even when they had squashed the problem, and Saul just kept coming back. Even if Saul did kill David, he would still been dealt with.  If David had gone against God’s instruction then he would have been walking in Saul’s position left with an evil spirit from the spirit of God leaving him. So instead David shows him how close he was by taking to items that for certain would look for

When we open the door for retaliation, then it becomes about us not about God!

Verse 13 –  25

The word says that David crosses over to the other side and stood on a hill some distance away and called out to the army and Abner the son of Ner. David asked them why didn’t they Guard their king and then he asked them where was his spear and water jug. David to the men that the deserved to die for failing to protect their king.

Saul recognized David’s voice and said

“Is that you David my so?” David asks Saul what has done and why is he pursuing him? David says If it’s God then may he accept an offering but if it’s man then may they be cursed before the Lord. They have now driven me from my share in the Lord and inheritance, now do not let my blood fall to the ground far from the Lord. The king of Israel as come out to look for a flea, as one hunts a partridge in the mountains”

Then Saul asked David to come back home, because David considered his life precious, he told David he would not try to hurt him again, Saul says I have sinned.

David told Saul to send over a young man to get his sword. And told Saul the Lord handed him to him but he did not lay a finger on the Lord’s anointed, so may the Lord value my life and deliver me from all trouble. He reminds Saul that the Lord rewards a man for his righteousness and faithfulness,

Praise God for David’s faithfulness and righteous walk. It is important to deal with people according to what the Lord say. There will be times you will feel an internal war between your flesh and your spirit the most important thing to remember is the inheritance that God has promised.

Now for the important part, if you are looking to build your foundation on faith google, download a free bible app or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead and you shall be saved. Begin your walk with word study, fellowship, and worship.

I Samuel Chapter 25

David, Naval and Abigail

Verse 1-11

The word tells us that at this time Samuel had died and all Israel assembled and mourned for him; and they buried him at his home in Ramah.

David had moved down into the desert of Maon. There was a man in Main who was very wealthy and had property. The word says he had a thousand goats and three thousand sheep. The mans name was Naval and his wife’s name was abigail, the scripture says she was an intelligent and beautiful woman, but her husband was mean.

David was in the desert when he heard that Naval was shearing, David sent ten young men to Naval to say.

Long life to you! Good health to you and your household! And good health to all that is yours!

The men were to say on David’s behalf that he heart’s that it’s shearing time.

When your shepherds were with us, we did not mistreat them, and the whole time they were at Carmel nothing of theirs were missing. Ask your own servants and they will tell you. Therefore be favorable toward my young men, since we come at a festive time. Please give your servants and your son David whatever you can find for them.”

The word says when David’s men arrived, they have Nabal David’s message, and Nabal by saying who is David and why should I take food from my servants and give it to him and his men.

Read how David’s message came to Nabal. Which such great wishes of greatness, and Nabal still remained mean spirited. This reminds us that some people, no matter what you do for them no matter how much you speak good grace in to their lives, they will not move from their ways.
Verse 12-22

David’s men returned back and when they told David what Nabal said David told his men to put on their swords and David put his on as well. The word says about five hundred went up with David, and two hundred stayed with the supplies.

One of Nabal’s servants told his wife Abigail that Nabal had hurled insults at David’s men, and that the men were very good to them.

“Night and day they were a wall around us all the time we were herding our sheep near them. Now think it over and see what you can do, because disaster is hanging over our master and his whole household.”

The word says Abigail wasted no time. She gathered up as much as she could fit on her donkey (see scripture for details of what she packed for David). The word says she told her servant to go ahead and she would follow him, but she didn’t tell her husband.

As she rode her donkey in to the mountain ravine she saw David and his men coming toward her David had just said that Nabal had paid his good back with evil, and may God deal with him if he leaves one man alive of all who belong to Nabal.

Praise God Abigail new who David was and who’s David was. The servant knew what David capabilities were. Remember the song that drove Saul into a Jealous rage Saul killed thousands, but David killed ten thousands.

David felt that Nabal’s evil was should not go unpunished and what he knew was true was that God confirms the word of his servant.

Lastly look at Abigail, it was nothing to pack up food and something to drunk for the men. But it was everything to move quickly to save her life and her servants life.

Verse 23- 31

The word says when Abigail saw David she quickly got off the donkey and bowed before him with her face to the ground. She told David to pay no attention to the wicked man Nabal, he is a fool like his name. She tells Saul since the Lord has kept you from shedding blood with your own hands. May the Lord let all your enemies and all whi intend to harm you be like Nabal.

Abigail gives honor to David for fighting the Lord’s battles she speaks good word over his life, and asks him to remember her when the Lord blesses him with success.

Praise God Abigail came to David humble and knowing God’s vision for him. Abigail served as an intervention, if David killed Nabal with his own hands because he was upset, he would have had to deal with that sitting on his spirit.

Verse 32- 44

David gave Abigail the Lord’s blessings for meeting him and saving him from bloodshed. He tells Abigail that not only did she save her life but she saved everyone who belong to Nabal.

David accepted what Abigail had to give him and told her to go home in peace. When Abigail got home Nabal was drunk and feasting like a king,  she waited u til the next day to tell him what she did.

The word says his heart failed him and he turned to stone. Ten days later the Lord struck Nabal and he died.

The word says when David heard about Nabal’s death he praised God for upholding his cause for the way Nabal had treated him.

Then David sent word asking Abigail to be his wife. The word says that Abigail quickly got on her donkey with five of her maids and went with David’s messengers.

The word let’s us know that David also married Ahinaom of Jezreel and so he had two wives. Saul had given his daughter Michal away to Paltiel

Glory be to God, this chapter reminds us that when someone wrongs us there is no need to go for revenge. The Lord will uphold his servant. This is why we are not to look to the left and the right but straight ahead. The Lord will handle your left and right you will have to just trust in him for your forward.

I Samuel chapter 24

Verse 1- 7

The word tells us that after Saul returned from fighting the Philistines, he was told, that David was hiding in the desert En Gedi. Saul took three thousand men chosen from all if Israel to look for David and his men.

They came to a sheep’s pen and there was a cave. The word says Saul went in to relieve himself. David and his men were far back in the cave. David’s men told him this is the day the Lord spoke

“I will give your enemy into your hands for you to deal with as you wish”

The word says then David crept up and cut a corner of Saul’s robe. The word says David was conscience stricken. David tells his men that “the Lord forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the Lord’s anionted, or lift my hand against him; for he is the anointed if the lord” the word says David rebuked his men and didn’t allow them to attack Saul.

The verses remind us that once anointed always anointed.  The enemy was using Saul through anger and Jealousy. Saul was thinking with a angry heart that was developed from Jealousy.

The Lord put Saul in David’s hands not what David did was going to determine who he was and where he stood in his walk in faith.

Had David killed Saul he would have been acting out of flesh not spirit. The Lord didn’t tell Saul to kill David “He said do to him as you wish” and at the moment of choice The Lord quickly reminded David of Saul’s anionting.

Romans 12:17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody

Verse 8 -13

The word says then David went out of the cave and called out to Saul. The word says when Saul turned around David was bowed down and prostrated himself. David asked Saul why was he listening to men that said he wanted to harm him? David tells Saul he could have killed him that day. David remind Saul that he had not wronged him but yet he is hunted. David say may the Lord judge between us. David remindsSaul of the saying.

From evildoers come evil deeds

So his hand will not touch him.

It was important for David to remind Saul of why he was hunting David. It was important for Saul to see that his life was spared.

Verse 14 -22

Saul says to David you are more righteous then me, you have treated me well, but I have treated you badly. Saul recognized his faults and he and David made an oath that David would not leave out Saul’s decendants when he is king.

Praise God David would not had been able to fully walk out his purpose if he would have killed Saul. He had to walk in forgiveness. He knew he didn’t do anything to Saul but Saul’s actions could have brought further from God he could have been controlled by anger which would have been developed by unforgiveness. David turned it around he rejected the seed of anger from being planted in his spirit. Then reminded Saul of his anointing. Glory be to God

I Samuel chapter 23

Verse 1-6

David seen that the philistine are fighting against Keilah, and he asked the Lord

Shall I go and attack these Philistines?

And the Lord responded saying

Go attack the Philistines and save keilah

Now when David let his men know what the Lord said. The let David know they were afraid, they needed more men for the Philistines forces. David went back to the Lord l, and the Lord answered saying

“Go down to Keilah, for I am going to give the Philistines into your hand”

The word says that David and his men went forward and fought the Philistines and carried off their livestock. The word says he inflicted heavy losses on the Philistines and saves the people of Keilah.

My God, the most important thing to do before we go fourth is go to God for council your spirit might say “what’s this going on? that’s not right!”

Can I tell you that if you react without God you will never know what that situation was meant to be. When we address things in the flesh we should not expect to have long lasting success in it. David showed us in every aspect of our lives we need to Go to the Lord and see if we have instructions and his blessings to fight that battle.

David didn’t say the Lord anointed me so what Ever it is that I believe we should do we will do. He said let me see what the one who I serve says about this.

Saul pursues David

Verse 7-12

The word says that Saul had gotten word that David was in Keilah and he said

“God has handed him over to me, for David has imprisoned himself by entering a town with gates and bars”

Saul called forces to go to Keilah and besieged David and his men. When David had gotten word what Saul was planning David told Abiathar to bring him the ephod. David began to ask the Lord what was to come fourth from Saul’s actions and would the innocent people in Keilah give him up after Saul destroys their town. The Lord said that Saul will destroy the town and the people of Keilah will give him up.

Saul is still willing to destroy the innocent to get what he wants. When I read the verses I am remind that sometimes the Lord will bring a situation that will test our faith. David had a man chasing around trying to kill him.

For us it could be the eviction notice, it can be the electricity company threatening to shut of your lights, it can be the enemy threatening your job, it can be your health. This word reminds us that we will be worned in our relationship with the Lord.

David had to run for his life, the difference is he waited on the Lord to tell him which way he would run. He didn’t just go without his Faith He allowed the God of Israel to guide his steps, Now the Lord has told him what he heard will happen.

Verse 13- 18

The word said David and his 600 men left Keilah and kept moving from place to place. When Saul was told that David left from Keilah he did not go there. The word says Saul searched for David day after day But God did not give David into his hands.

The word says when David was in the desert word had come to him that Saul was out to take his life. The word says the Saul’s son Jonathan went to David and helped him find strength in God. Jonathan said to David

” Don’t be afraid, my father will not lay a hand on you. You

will be king over Israel, and I WILL be second to you. Even my father Saul knows this”

The word says that the two men made a covenant and Jonathan went home and David stayed in the desert.

The Lord will send confirmation through a messenger to let you know you are in the forward. To remind you that you are who he says you are even if at the moment you are homeless and in the dark. David was homeless he could go home to be with his wife and his brethren because their father was out to kill him. Yet the Lord reassured him this is who I say you will be.

Verse 19- 25

The word says the Ziphites went to Saul and said David is hiding here in the desert. If you con down here we will hand him to you.

Saul wishes blessing of the Lord on them and told them to make the preparation to get him. Find out all his hiding places and I will come with you. When they went to the desert David had gone to another desert, and that went looking in pursuit of David.

We are reminded that their will be people looking for the worst to happen to you. They will try to make it easy for the enemy to attack you, they will try their best to hand you over.

Verse 26- 29

The word says that David was along one side of the mountain and Saul was going along the other. The word says as Saul was closing in on David a messenger came to him and told home the Philistines were attacking,  so he stopped the pursuit to go and fight the Philistines. And DVid went up to live in the strongholds of An Gedi.

We must believe the Lord to make a way. We must believe that he will open doors.

1Samuel Chapter 22

David at Adullam and Mizpah

Verse 1-5

The word tells us that David had left Gath and went to the Cave of Adullam. When his family heard where he was they went to him as well as those that were in distress, debt, or discontent. David had become the leader of about four hundred men. David had gone to Mizpah to see the king of Moab and ask him to allow his parents to stay with him until he knew what God wanted him to do. David’s parents stayed with the king of Moab until the stronghold was over. The word says that the Prophet Gad had told David not to stay in the stronghold, to go in to the land of Judah. So David left and went in to the forest.

Verses 1-5 Shows us what a servant is suppose to do. David went to the cave to hide and collect his thoughts about what next. The word tells us that the there was a time that the Lord hid his prophets in caves until it was safe. When we get to a point when things are going crazy we are to hide in God, in prayer, in worship to do nothing other than wait for instructions. David’s family found him and was ready to be with him and fight with him. Just in his circumstance the Lord sent four hundred men for David to lead. We serve a resourceful God who has already prepared our resources before anything happens, the question is are you going to wait for instructions, so that it can meet at the right position? The prophet Gad told David not to wait in the stronghold so David headed to the forest of Hereth. David had received instruction from the Lords servant Gad and now new what to do next, David invited God to order his steps knowing that there is glory in following instruction.

Verse 6 – 23

Saul kills the priests of Nob

The ending of the chapter tells us that Saul went to Gibeah and asked the men of Benjamin dcan David give them fields and vineyards or make them commanders why would they betray him for David. There was a man name Doeg the Edomite that told Saul that David had gone to visit Ahimelech to seek God. Doeg told Saul that Ahimelech had given David bread and the sword of Goliath.

Saul went to Ahimelech and asked him why would he conspire against him, with David as he waits for him to rebel against.  Ahimelech asks Saul who is more loyal to him then David. Ahimelech tells Saul this wasn’t the first time that he went to God for David. So don’t accuse this servant and kill this servants father’s family. Saul ordered for the guards to kill the priests of the Lord. None of the guards moved to kill the priests of the Lord, so Saul told Doeg the Edomite to do it and he did killing Eighty-five men who wore linen ephod. He also killed the town of Nob killing men, women, children, and animals.

Abiathar the son of Ahimelch escaped andran to David telling him what happen to his fathers family. David told Abithar that he should have known that Doeg would go back and tell Saul. The death of Ahimelch was his fault. David told Abiathar to stay with him because the man looking to kill him is looking to kill himself as well.

I ended this chapter thinking about the anger that was in Saul. Anger had grown so deep and wild inside of Saul, that he had ordered the death of eighty- five priest. When the spirit of the Lord left from Saul it took morality and Compassion with it. The seed of Jealousy had grew from hate to destroy very quickly. We have two men one who is looking for the guidance of God and one who had lost respect and sight of everything that was good including God. It’s so important not to allow anger to come in and take over and eat at you character. When this happens, you cannot rest, you cannot allow yourself to enjoy life, you will push everyone who means anything away. These are the things that happened to Saul. How do I know? David was Saul’s harpist he soothed him when the evil spirit would take over, when we don’t have the Lord’s spirit in our lives, when we are not walking with the power of the Holy spirit, you will rejected anything that is good, with David gone there was no peace in his spirit. With a restless spirit Saul killed a whole town. When we don’t welcome God into ourlives and follow instruction everything that is not good comes our way and grows.

Now for the important part If you are looking to build your foundation of faith and will like to start a relationship with the Lord. 1 Samuel chapter 21

Verse 1 – 10

Saul pursues David

The word of God says David went to Nob where there was a priest by the name of Ahimelech, the word says that the priest trembled when he met David. He asked David where was his men, David told him that he left the men behind because the king sent him on a private mission. David asked Ahimelech for five loaves of bread. Ahimelech told David that he didn’t have loaves of bread but he did have consecrated bread just as long as his men hadn’t touched a woman. David asked the priest for a sword and Ahimelech told David that the sword of Goliath was there wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. David took the sword saying that there was none like it.

The Lord prepares jus for the purpose. I know that you have heard that before from me. The word tells us that not only God have consecrated bread waiting for him but the sword of a giant that he had already defeated. The Lord will remind us of all the battles that he has already won for us, to remind us that he can and will do it again.

Verse 11 – 15

David at Gath

The word says when David arrived in Gath the men saw him and said isn’t that David the king of the land. Isn’t he the one that the sing about Saul killed thousands, but David killed ten thousand. This scared David that they knew who he was and David pretended to act as if he was insane. The king was upset with his people because he couldn’t do anything with David.

If anything, this scripture reminds us that at times we may not know which way to go but when it is not the right directions we will know and have the knowledge to protect. Was David supposed to be king of Gath? Was he supposed to die in Gath? The answer is No, what we know is that the Lord said that David was to be king of Israel. Let’s remember that David defeated Goliath who was from Gath which means he landed in the space of Saul’s enemy. Because the people of Gath was singing the same song that upset Saul. David had gotten scared and to save his life he pretended that he was insane, because David knew that they did not kill the insane.

Now for the important part. If you are looking to build your foundation in faith download a free bible app, google, or turn your bible to Romans 10:9 confess with for mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the died and you shall be saved. Begin to build your foundation of faith through a healthy prayer life, study of the word and praise and worship.

Be Blessed
